As things stand at the moment, all schools are likely to remain closed until January 2020. This may mean that pupils will have to re-do a full year, unless the rulings change. Closing the education sector has wider repercussions, effecting those who provide transport, those who make uniforms, those who provide equipment and food, teachers, and other school staff. Picture show Oases in lockdown.
Work was begun on the first two permanent classes at Oases, but stopped during lockdown. The walls are there, and the work will continue once funds are available and lockdown rules allow it. Many thanks to the supporter who made the first part of the work possible.
Oases Trust was established in August 2010, as a result of recognising that education can be a way out of poverty.
Our income is raised entirely through donations, fund raising and pupils sponsors. All money raised goes directly to Oases Centre for their work, and the work of projects that they support. Every quarter money is sent to support 50 pupils and pay some teachers allowances.
We support some pupils into secondary school and have been able to provide books, food, new chairs and other resources.
